Stremio Setup Guide (Fire Stick & Google TV)
Stremio is one of the easiest ways to stream content on Fire Stick and Google TV — but here’s what most people don’t realize: installing the app is only step one.
Out of the box, Stremio doesn’t show much. Everything comes from add-ons, so once you install it, you’ll need to add a few sources before anything really works.
Access & Privacy
Some add-ons and sources may not load the same depending on your location. If you run into issues, check out our guide on how to fix access issues and browse privately →.
Quick Steps
- Install the Downloader app
- Open Downloader and enter your Stremio link
- Download the APK
- Install the app
- Open Stremio and continue setup
- Install add-ons to unlock content
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Install Downloader
Search for Downloader and install it.
Step 2: Open Downloader
Launch Downloader and allow permissions.
Step 3: Enter the Download Link
Enter simplyafterdark.com/stremio and press Go.
Step 4: Download the APK
The download will start automatically.
Step 5: Install the App
Select Install.
Step 6: Open Stremio
When Stremio opens, you’ll see a sign-in screen. Select Continue as Guest to skip creating an account and move forward.
Step 7: Install Add-ons
If you don’t install add-ons, Stremio won’t show anything — this is the most common mistake.
Stremio doesn’t come with content built in. Everything you watch comes from add-ons.
Open the Add-ons section, then go to Community Add-ons. Scroll through the list or use the search option to find something you want.
Select an add-on and choose Install. Once installed, it will start showing up when you search for movies or shows.
Step 8: Search for Content
Use the search feature to find movies or shows. Select a title, choose a streaming source, and start streaming.
How to Find More Add-ons
The add-ons you see inside Stremio are just the starting point. Most of the better options aren’t listed by default.
To find more, open a browser on your phone or computer and search for Stremio add-ons. You’ll find guides, lists, and install links.
When you find one you want, open it in Stremio and install it. After that, it will automatically appear when you search for content.
Some add-ons include different types of content depending on the source, so what you see will vary based on what you install.
Why Nothing Shows Up at First
If you open Stremio and don’t see much content, that’s normal. The app doesn’t come fully loaded — everything depends on the add-ons you install.
Once you install a few add-ons, content will start appearing when you search.
What to Do After Setup
Once everything is installed, here’s how it actually works:
- Use the search icon to find a movie or show
- Select a title
- Choose a streaming source from the list
- Press play
If you don’t see any sources, it means you need to install more add-ons.
Troubleshooting
- If the download doesn’t start, check the URL and try again
- If installation is blocked, enable unknown sources
- If nothing shows up, install add-ons first
- If streams don’t load, try a different add-on
- If the app crashes, restart your device
